Investing in the future of education

The Ministry of Education and Training started a program called “Ensuring the quality of teaching” with a total capital of USD 186 million.

The Ministry of Education and Training coordinated with Hanoi’s local authorities to start a program called “Ensuring the quality of teaching” with a total capital of USD 186 million on March 10.

The program aims at improving the quality of teaching in primary schools throughout Vietnam, especially in providing extra support for those schools that have all-day classes.

According to Mr. Tran Dinh Thuan, the manager of the programme, this money will be invested in building a nice environment and enhancing policy framework for schools in order for them to move on to all-day teaching. 8,000 teaching manuals on all-day teaching, 2.4 million additional textbooks for students, and 500,000 teaching manuals for teachers will be compiled. The investment amount will also go towards building an extra of 4,650 classes for schools, and provide regular allowance for 2,500 teachers who teach more hours.

The objective of the programme is to change half-day to all-day teaching methods for at least 1,600 primary schools with 450,000 students.

According to the statistics from the programme management team, only 35% of primary students are learning all-day.
