General Vo Nguyen Giap |
We heard that General Giap has been receiving treatment in the 108 Military Hospital. Do you visit him frequently?
I am one of only a few people that are allowed to visit him frequently.
At the moment, how is his health?
He has been quite unwell but is showing signs of recovery. The doctor in charge of his treatment informed me that General Giap is recovering better than most patients in the special treatment area. He is now only receiving oxygen assistance at night. Doctors are doing the best they can to make sure that he will be able to get up and sit in a wheelchair soon.
Has General Giap been talking to you?
Yes, he still talks, but not very clearly. However, he understands everything I say and responds by nodding or shaking his head.
How old will he be this Lunar New Year?
After Tet, he will be 100 years old in Vietnamese years, and his 100th birthday will be on August 25, 2010, according to Western years.
Have you been receiving greetings and health wishes to pass on to the General?
Many, especially in the last few months.
Thank you!
