Statue of President Ho Chi Minh to be built in Mexico

Deputy PM Nguyen Thien Nhan okayed the proposal on building the statue of President Ho Chi Minh in Acapulco City, Mexico.

Deputy PM Nguyen Thien Nhan okayed the proposal of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism on building the statue of President Ho Chi Minh in Acapulco City, Mexico.

The project is scheduled to be inaugurated on the 120th birthday of the President (May 19, 1890).

The statue will be placed on Miguel Aleman Avenue, near the statue of Indian national hero Mahatma Gandhi.

UNESCO recognised President Ho Chi Minh a hero of national liberation and a cultural celebrity. The governments of many countries, where the President arrived and stayed, including Mexico, want to build statues of President Ho Chi Minh in their big cities.

For 30 years engaging in revolutionary activities in other countries, President Ho Chi Minh came to 42 countries throughout the world.

Since 1990, 60 commemorative projects have been built in the world in honor of President Ho Chi Minh.
