About 12,000 people will participate in a charity walk for the poor in HCM City on Jan 10, Vietnam News Agency (VNA) reported quoting the event organisers as saying on Januanry 7.
Much of the proceeds from the 5th Lawrence S. Ting walk will fund the poor in districts 7 and 8 and rural districts of Nha Be and Binh Chanh, and a sports programme for young talents in the southern city.
The remaining sum will be used for storm and flood victims in the central regions.
Participants will walk 3.5 km around the newly-developed Phu My Hung urban area.
The organisers said by January 5, they raised more than 2.3 billion VND ($124,000).
