Musical sensation Vu Dang Minh Anh, 15, has won 6 international musical awards and can speak 5 languages. She has just come back Vietnam to introduce her performance.
Vu Dang Minh Anh, a musical talent
She said that she had spent much more time practising for her performance in Vietnam than for international contests because she felt nervous and worried.
Minh Anh was born in 1994 in Poland. She grew up to the piano music of her mother since she was a child. She attended musician Dang Thai Son’s performance at age 5 for the first time and coincidentally she met a very devoted musical teacher who introduced her to her training with her first lessons.
After six months, Minh Anh went to a musical school in Warsawa. She had studied very hard. One year later, she was able to attend an International Musical Competition in France designed for children under 10. At the time she was only six and a half years old, the youngest contestant. There, she won the highest prize in a convincing fashion.
Two years later, she was selected to attend an international piano contest in Spain (Concurso international de piano ciudad de San Sebastian) for children under the age of 12. Unfortunately, she was sick at that time and had to take medicine while practising piano to prepare for the competition. Amazingly, once again, she won the top prize.
It would later be her good fortune to meet Irina Rumiancewa – Dabrowski, a famous teacher at the Tchaikovski musical school (Russia) who agreed to train her. This teacher always taught advanced classes and had previously never taught children but she could not refuse to teach such a musical talent.
After studying under Dabrowski, Minh Anh continuously achieved many prizes such as the Young Talent of IBLA grand prize, an international piano contest in Italy in July 2003; the Consolation prize of an International Piano Competition, S. Bach, in Poland in March 2004; Third prize of an International Piano Competition in Poland in April 2006; and Third prize of the International piano competition Val Tidone in Italy in June 2009.
Minh Anh’s parents have discovered a special language ability of their daughter as well. At present she can fluently speak 5 languages including Vietnamese, Polish, French, English, Germany and Latin.
Minh Anh is very much interested in Latin, French literature and film music, especially Walt Disney music. She wants to become a film composer in the future. She won the first prize of a music composing competition at the National Musical School, Karol Szymanowski, with her “Somewhere over the clouds” performance. This song was performed by Minh Anh and Quyen Thien Dac at the Hanoi Opera House on December 19 to raise funds for disabled Vietnamese children. There were many solo performances from Minh Anh applauded by audiences from the capital.

In University, Minh Anh hopes to study psychology along with piano. Currently, she is studying at the National Musical School, Karol Szymanowski, and the American School of Warsaw, both in Poland. This young talent has already accomplished so much for her age and the future appears to be wide open.
