Tam back on top of stock exchange

The top 3 richest persons on the Vietnam Stock Exchange hold over VND27.260 trillion ($1.4 billion) worth of shares.

The top 3 richest business persons on the Vietnam Stock Exchange possess over VND27.260 trillion ($1.4 billion) worth of shares as of December 18.

At present, Dang Thanh Tam possesses 67.5 million shares of KBC, 60 million shares of SQC, nearly 16 million shares of SGT and 12 million ITA shares, which are equivalent to VND 9.663 trillion ($522 million) at closing on December 18, 2009.

Tam has gained back the top position because SQC shares had a high IPO price of VND81,000 ($4.3). The share price increased to VND86,600 ($4.6) on Dec 18. KBC shares was traded for the first tim on the same day on the Ho Chi Minh City Stock Exchange at VND56,000 ($2.9).

Three listed enterprises namely KinhBac City (KBC), Saigontel (SGT), Sai Gon Minerals - Quy Nhon (SQC) are members of the Saigon Investment Corporation (SGI), in which Tam is the chairman. SGI also plans to equitise Western Bank and Navibank in the near future.

Tam was the richest person on the stock market in 2007 and the third richest in 2008, when Doan Nguyen Duc took over the first position. Duc is currently at number 2.

Duc is holding over 146.6 million HAG shares worth VND9.240 trillion ($492 million). This value increased by 50 per cent compared with the end of 2008.

Pham Nhat Vuong is the third with 85 million VIC shares and 20 million VPL shares, a total equivalent to VND8.363 trillion ($446 million).

The top 3 richest persons possess the majority of asset value among the top 10. The remaining shares are worth VND10.3 trillion ($549 million) in total.

Tran Dinh Long, Chairman of Hoa Phat Corporation takes the 4th position with VND2.624 trillion ($139 million), following by Nguyen Thi Kim Xuan, the richest woman on the stock market with VND2.1 trillion ($112 million).

The 5th and 6th positions are also held by two women, Dang Thi Hoang Phuong and Pham Thu Huong, with shares worth VND1,340 billion ($71 million) and VND1,211 billion ($64 million), respectively.

Le Phuoc Vu, Chairman of Hoa Sen Corporation; Truong Thi Le Khanh, Chairman of Vinh Hoan Joint Stock Company and Nguyen Duy Hung, Chairman of SSI have approximately VND1 trillion ($53 million) worth of shares each.
