Horse-drawn carriages banned around Da Lat lake

Authorities in Da Lat City in the Central Highlands province of Lam Dong banned horse-drawn carriages from transporting people around Xuan Huong Lake on February 25.

Da Lat City's Economic Department says the horse-drawn carriage service around Xuan Huong Lake operates without licenses or public pricing.

The carriages attract tourists, but operators fail to implement safety measures, posing accident risks.

The Da Lat People's Committee has directed relevant agencies to assess and propose a plan to relocate the horse-drawn carriage service to the Tuyen Lam Lake area.

Currently, Da Lat has around 30 horse-drawn carriages. Fares are negotiated directly with passengers, ranging from VND80,000 (USD3.15) to VND100,000 per person.

Meanwhile, the pilot operation of electric tourist vehicles in Da Lat has also been halted from February  15.
