More than 500 people are evacuated due to landslides in Quang Nam on November 24.
Authorities in the central province of Quang Nam's Bac Tra My District have urgently evacuated more than 140 households with over 500 people as widespread landslides have occurred following heavy downpours.
Speaking to Dantri/Dtinews on Monday morning, a representative from the Bac Tra My District Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, Nguyen Hong Vuong, said that heavy rain has occurred in the area since Sunday afternoon, causing serious landslides on the National Road 40B and other areas.
In the neighbouring Nam Tra My District, many roads have also been damaged due to landslides.
The Nam Tra My District Chairman, Tran Duy Dung said that landslides had been reported at as many as 59 locations.
"We've sent teams to repair the roads and direct traffic to ensure safety for travellers," the official said.
The central region is seeing heavy rain which has caused widespread flash floods and landslides in many provinces, especially in mountainous areas.
