The image of local government workers cycling around Hoan Kiem Lake to collect rubbish has become more familiar to Hanoians.

Since June this year, the Hanoi Urban Environment Company has assigned staff to ensure the area around Hoan Kiem Lake remains clean.

 


A bike with two 50-litre dustbins on each sides

 

Environmental staff work from 8 am to 4 pm every day

Every day, two workers continuously cycle around Hoan Kiem Lake. Each circuit takes about 30 minutes

 


They put small rubbish into the dustbins on the bike, while bigger waste will be put into dustbins on streets


This replaces using the brooms to sweep the street


Hoan Kiem District has 25 rubbish collecting bikes


Cycling to pick up rubbish expected to raise the public awareness on environmental protection. Their uniforms call for the public to be more aware of littering
