A mother in Binh Duong Province is calling for support to save her 13-year-old son who is in critical condition following an accident.

Nguyen Trong Phuc and one of his neighbours decided to go out for a swim when the accident happened. His neighbour lost control of the motorbike and both of them fell. Phuc's mother borrowed over VND10m (USD476) to take him to Binh Duong General Hospital where he was diagnosed with a traumatic brain injury. Phuc was released a week later. After a few days, he started to have nosebleeds but the family couldn't afford to take him to hospital anymore.
"Hearing his mumbling at midnight, I woke up just to see that blood flowing out from his nose and mouth. We didn't know how to stop the bleeding, then few minutes later, he fainted," Tran Thi Thanh Nga, Phuc's mother said.

Phuc received three blood transfusions at Binh Duong General Hospital then was brought to HCM City's Cho Ray Hospital. Doctors said he had carotid-cavernous fistulas. He was released after a few days when his condition improved but as soon as he got home, the bleed began again.
"He fainted and had a seizure. He was cold and turning blue. I thought he was dead but we managed to take him to the hospital in desperation," Phuc's father, Nguyen Van Hoang said. "The doctors said he had a false aneurysm."
Phuc's parents born in An Giang Province but moved the five-member family to Binh Duong to find work and escape poverty. Phuc's father and older sister work at a wood processing factory for a monthly salary of VND3m which can't cover all expensive and house rent. Phuc had already dropped school to help sell porridge on the pavement to keep his youngest sister in education.
Phuc can be treated with endovascular coiling but the problems he faces can reoccur so he needs long-term treatment. In addition, he does not have health insurance.
Phuc's mother has weak health from struggling with ovarian cysts. Two months ago, the family borrowed VND40m for her surgery and VND70m more last month for Phuc's treatment. They do not know how to repay the debts and continue paying for Phuc's treatment.
