The group, which are employees of an Indian pharmaceutical billionaire, will arrive from different countries on a two-week tour of Vietnam starting later this month. As planned, they will visit Hanoi, Ninh Binh, and Ha Long Bay in the northern region.

According to a local travel agency, the group will stay at four-to-five-star hotels in Hanoi and then travel to Ha Long Bay and Ninh Binh on one-day tours.

In Ha Long City, the Indian visitors will take cruise tours on Ha Long Bay, which last several hours through some sites including Thien Cung Cave, Dau Go Cave, Cho Da Islet, Dinh Huong Islet, and Trong Mai Islet.

"The tourists will arrive in small groups between August 29 and September 3," the travel agency said. "The biggest group of 1,400 tourists will arrive on August 29 and we're arranging 28 large-size buses, over 30 cruise boats and lots of employees at the Ha Long International Cruise Port to serve them.

According to the Quang Ninh Provincial Department of Tourism, this would be Ha Long’s largest ever tour group.

Vietnam has emerged as a favoured destination for Indian tourists. According to the Vietnam National Authority of Tourism, the country received 392,000 Indian visitors last year, an increase of 230 percent compared to 2019, the year before the onset of the Covid pandemic.

In the first seven months of this year alone, Vietnam welcomed more than 271,000 Indian visitors, a more than 160 percent increase over the same period last year.

Several Indian billionaires have previously hosted their weddings at popular tourist destinations such as Phu Quoc, Ha Long and Danang.
