Mountainous Lang Son areas isolated by rising floods

Many areas in the northern mountainous province of Lang Son have been isolated by rising flooding triggered by heavy rains.


Lang Son witnessed heavy rain which lasted from Tuesday night until Wednesday afternoon with total rainfall reaching over 110mm, causing serious flooding in the two districts of Binh Gia and Bac Son.


Flood waters rising in local rivers and streams have isolated many areas in Bac Son District.



As of late Wednesday afternoon, 12 houses and 14 roads have been deeply submerged by the floods, which have also damaged over 343.32 hectares of plants.

Many other provinces in the northern mountainous region have also been warned about threats of flash floods and landslides following heavy rains.

According to the National Centre for Hydrometeorological Forecasting, heavy downpours with rainfalls ranging from 108mm to 365mm were reported in Lai Chau, Yen Bai, Ha Giang, Tuyen Quang, Bac Kan, Thai Nguyen, Cao Bang, and Lang Son over the past 24 hours between 8 a.m. on July 2 and 8 a.m. on July 3.

Residents in these provinces have been advised to prepare for the incidents and closely follow weather forecasts to have suitable preventive methods.
