The newspaper co-operated with authorities in Tra Vinh Province to hold a ground-breaking ceremony on November 30 for the house project of Doan Thi Trang in An Truong Commune. Trang, 39, and her husband both suffer from mild mental problems and struggle to support their two small children. Their old house has badly deteriorated but they could not afford to build a new one.

After their story was shared on Dantri/Dtinews, many readers sent donations to help them build a new house.

Speaking at the ceremony, Chairman of An Truong Commune People's Committee, Tran Thi Tuyet Suong, sent her sincere thanks to Dantri Newspaper and donors for their kind help to Trang.

"With the donations of over VND100 million, the family has decided to build a 60-square-metre house with two bedrooms and a living room," Suong said. "We'll help monitor the construction process to ensure the quality and progress."

The official also shared that the commune still has some 90 old deteriorating houses that need reconstruction and hope to receive further support from Dantri and donors to build new houses for poor people.
