Despite being expected to open in June, National Highway 32 remains a messy construction site.
Road or construction ditch?
After prolonged construction, Hanoi’s Chairman Nguyen The Thao on April 15 requested contractors to speed up work on the road in order for it to open to traffic in June, with the whole route scheduled for operation in July.
However, the Hanoi-Nhon route looks more like a construction ditch with several deep holes, and remains a safety hazard.
In order to traverse the construction site to get to their houses or offices, local people have had to resort to using dilapidated bridges and make-shift paths.
“We’ve endured misery for the last two years as construction as rumbled on,” local resident Mr. Minh admitted.
