Municipal Department of Education and Training Director Nguyen Van Hieu said the department had received strong support from parents of 9th and 12th graders to return to school. However, the rate of parental support for first-grade pupils returning was just 30 percent.
HCM City will allow students in Grade 9 and 13 to come back to school from December 13
Chairman of the city people’s committee Phan Van Mai said that the city would allow students in Grade 9 and 13 to come back to school from December 13. Meanwhile, first-grade students had to continue to remain at home. The city would take the feelings of parents into consideration when planning the most suitable time for first-grade students to return to school based on the pandemic situation.
The trial running of onsite classes would last for two weeks. If either students or teachers face symptoms like fever, cough or breathing difficulty, they have to stay home and inform the school.
A survey carried earlier by the municipal Department of Education and Training of parents of 1st graders showed that only 29.82 percent agreed with the city's pilot plan to reopen school.
